1950–1959
As the second Estes generation steps into the picture, the company makes important improvements in safety and customer service to meet the increased demands of a larger organization.
1951
Second Home Office in Richmond
The home office moves to Gordon Avenue in Richmond to accommodate the need for more space. Three additions to the building follow over the next 16 years.

1953
Robey Estes, Sr., Promotion to General Manager
W.W.'s oldest son becomes general manager, freeing up W.W. to eventually go back to Chase City and do a little more farming.

1955
First Safety Program
The first official safety program rewards drivers for improving their safety records.

1957
First Million Dollar Year
The company brings in $1.1 million by year-end.

Four New Terminals and a Teletype System
Terminals in Springfield, Newport News, South Boston and Winchester, VA, are added as business expands. A teletype system is installed to help speed up communications between terminals and with the home office.
