Official Truckload Division
A truckload service is formally christened to handle "just-in-time" deliveries as well as any other high volume, single destination shipping.

Estes in the Southwest
With the new Dallas terminal as its hub, the southwest network serves Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri.

My Estes
The new, password-protected portion of the Estes website gives customers quick access to information specific to their accounts.

Caribbean Division
Through its Caribbean Division, Estes now offers direct coverage to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Croix.

2001

Estes/G.I. Trucking Collaboration
In an unprecedented move, Estes and senior management of G.I. Trucking complete a joint purchase of G.I. Trucking's stock from ABC Corporation. All communication, administrative and computer functions move to a single system. Separate management is maintained, but the two companies collaborate on operating and marketing strategies.

Allen's Expedited Acquisition
This purchase enables Estes to expand into the fast-growing warehouse and expedited arena of the transportation industry.

2002

Robey, Sr., and Robey, Jr., Honored
The father-son duo is honored with the Ernst & Young Virginia Lifetime Achievement Entrepreneur of the Year award, which recognizes those who have shown excellence in areas such as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their business and the community.

Estes Integrated
With Estes Integrated Transportation Services, Estes' consulting capacity is formalized and expanded to include transportation system analysis, design and management.

Caribbean Services Expansion
Caribbean service expands to cover the major Caribbean tourism and commercial markets.

Tropical Storm Gaston
A heavy hurricane season in the fall is catastrophic when Tropical Storm Gaston stalls over Richmond, VA, pounding the area with 14 inches of rain in less than 8 hours. As a result of flooding in the home office, both computers and phone systems go down.

New Shark/iSeries IBM System
Flooding creates opportunity as Estes upgrades all telephones and computers in the home office with state-of-the-art equipment.

First $1 Billion Year

Estes celebrates 75 years of stability and growth in the freight transportation industry.

Ten Years of ExpressLINK
The ExpressLINK carrier network consisting of Estes in 46 states, Lakeville Motor Express in the upper Midwest and TST Overland Express in Canada celebrates 10 years of cooperation and high-quality service.

Robey, Sr. Dies
The company mourns the loss of its beloved leader and son of founder W.W. Estes, “Mr. Robey,” who dies at age 85.

2007

Focus on Next-Day Service
Estes sharpens its focus on building next-day and second-day service.

Estes Air Forwarding, LLC
Estes Air is legally reorganized as Estes Air Forwarding LLC.

2008

Estes Goes to All 50
Estes and Lakeville Motor Express amicably dissolve a 12-year ExpressLINK alliance in order for Estes to expand into the upper Midwest and offer direct coverage to all 50 states.

TSA Compliance
Estes becomes one of the first LTL carriers to become TSA compliant. The company’s processes and training now meet the Transportation Security Administration guidelines required for a carrier to make air cargo deliveries to outbound commercial aircraft.
