Job Summary
District Safety Manager
Must be able to thrive in a fast paced environment. Must possess exceptional leadership and communication skills. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the day-to-day direction and management of an LTL district safety operation. These include the support of the Operations department and ensuring current safety standards. Will be available for flexible schedule as needed with extensive travel required. Reports directly to the VP of Safety.
Essential Functions
- Terminal and Shop inspections
- Audit driver logs and qualifications
- Audit lease companies and contract carriers
- Audit terminals for OSHA, DOT and EPA compliance
- Handle accidents, Workers’ Comp claims and hazardous materials incidents
- Participate in hiring of drivers
- Participate in disciplinary actions regarding safety violations
- Participate in training
- Keep up to date on any changes or new procedures within the Company.
- Enforce compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
- Conduct meetings with all employees to keep them up to date with pertinent changes within Estes and the trucking industry.
- Promote good relations between management and employees
- Works closely with Operations, HR and Fleet Services
- Travels as required to manage the needs of district
