Regional Human Resources Manager
The Regional Human Resources Manager is a midlevel to senior position that reports directly to the Director of Human Resources. The incumbent is responsible for providing local terminal management support for employee relations; assisting in the education and follow-up of all company policies ensuring compliance with all State and Federal employment laws, procedures and administration of benefits; recruitment and staffing, and working as a liaison between terminal employees and Corporate Human Resources. Incumbent is responsible for working closely with Regional Management to implement Human Resources strategies that support the business plans of their respective regions.
- Partners with employees and management staff to maintain a positive work environment
- Provides counsel to management relating to disciplinary processes
- Coordinates employee disciplinary actions/suspensions/terminations for region with District Manager and Corporate Human Resources
- Assures consistent application of all company policies and procedures
- Recruitment; hosts job fairs and interview sessions as coordinated by Corporate Human Resources Department and as requested by District Managers
- Employee relations; conducts investigations as coordinated by Director of Human Resources
- Schedules ride-alongs with Drivers and Account Managers (one on one to identify potential issues)
- Plans and schedules visits to all terminal locations in region and conducts employee meetings as appropriate
- Works with Terminal Manager, District Manager and Regional Vice President to maintain proper staffing levels
- New terminal start-ups; interviews and new-hire paperwork
- Unemployment; attends hearings when necessary
- Provides coaching/counseling to all levels of employees by developing a trusting and respectful relationship; is visibly known and available to all employees; serves as an advisor to employees
- Serves as a role model to all employees
- Assists in evaluations of reports, decisions and results of Human Resources Department in relation to established goals; recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to affect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
- Assists with annual benefits meetings; educates employees on value of benefits and works with the Benefits Department for resolution of benefits issues
- Assists in developing and implementing a proactive action plan to retain employees and reduce turnover
- Assesses management/supervisory training needs and delivers appropriate training where necessary
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
- Conducts compensation studies and provides recommendations
