Project Development Specialist - Corporate Communications

Location: Corporate Office - Richmond, VA

Job Summary
  • The goal of this position is to help improve the way the Company conducts business functions and activities in order to reduce overall costs, provide more efficient use of resources and better support its customers. The Specialist will focus on projects within the technical areas of the Intranet, Internet and corporate project management from start to finish.
  • Participate in project planning activities including creating functional specifications and defining detailed project tasks
  • Perform gap analyses of specific systems against user requirements
  • Create test plans, test scenarios and expected results
  • Coordinate project administrative tasks such as work plan administration, time and expense tracking and project scheduled maintenance
  • Manage teams to implement projects
  • Act as a liaison between Corporate Communications and other departments
  • Work with systems developers to create a technical roadmap to meet business requirements
  • Work closely with users and EDPS staff to resolve complex system issues
  • Follow-through with all aspects of the project including the coordination of programming and testing, data collection and analysis, any resulting need for training and project activity documentation and follow up on actions to closure
  • Develop regular status reports for management
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or closely related field
  • Three or more years in a corporate communications, marketing or employee communications environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to internal and external customers, peers and supervisors
  • Versatility to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to efficiently troubleshoot, problem-solve and implement resolution of printing issues in a timely manner
  • Ability to maintain high quality standards as a mode of normal operation and possess effective follow-up and problem resolution skills
  • Ability to analyze tasks within a project and forecast their effect on a given project
  • Knowledge and skills to efficiently and effectively manage time, prioritize jobs and tasks and cross-manage multiple projects at one time
  • Possess a strong knowledge in areas of offset printing and copy services, or demonstrate the ability to learn them quickly
