Operational Technology

At Estes, we're committed to delivering the best value to our customers. That’s why we invest in leading-edge technology that improves efficiency and advances sustainability at every step of the shipping process. From enhancing yard and dock operations and optimizing routes to streamlining pickups and deliveries and keeping our equipment in peak condition, our technology enables smarter, more sustainable operations across our network. This means a more reliable shipping experience, competitive pricing, and lasting value for the people we serve.

Samsara: Real-Time Intelligence

Samsara’s cloud-based platform gives us the real-time insights we need to manage our fleet more efficiently and safely. It helps us track our thousands of tractors, so we always know what’s in use, available, or idle—increasing ETA accuracy and cutting down on 15-minute idling events. And with real-time analytics and alerts on vehicle diagnostics, we can proactively schedule maintenance, minimize downtime, and keep our fleet safe and road-ready.

Optym: Smarter Routing

Optym’s AI-powered software helps us optimize routes, load plans, and line-haul operations to meet the evolving needs of our customers. And in 2024, this technology helped improve line-haul efficiency by 2% across our vast North American terminal network. By reducing miles, minimizing returns, and limiting freight handling, you can count on us to deliver shipments on time and as promised.

PEGA: Seamless Tracking

With PEGA’s integration tools and mobile devices, we monitor shipments in real time and streamline load planning. This technology supports lower-emission routing, increases transparency across our network, and delivers more real-time freight visibility for our customers at every step.

Spireon: Visibility In Motion

Spireon’s tracking platform gives us real-time insight into the location and movement of our trailers and dollies. This allows us to streamline routes, reduce unnecessary mileage, cut emissions, and enhance both pickup and delivery performance.

Remora: Pioneering LTL Carbon Capture

Estes is proud to be the first LTL carrier to participate in Remora’s groundbreaking carbon capture pilot. This technology is designed to capture up to 80% of a truck’s tailpipe emissions and store the carbon for industrial reuse—turning every mile into an opportunity for impact.

EDR: Paperless Proof of Delivery

Electronic Delivery Receipts (EDRs) give customers digital access to proof of delivery within seven minutes of signing for their shipment. By reducing paper waste and streamlining workflows, EDRs help create a cleaner, more efficient shipping process. Now active in many of our terminals, this technology provides near-instant confirmation and peace of mind for our customers.

Together, these advanced technologies reflect Estes’ unwavering commitment to progress both for our operations and for our planet. By investing in technology that enhances freight visibility, boosts efficiency, and supports our sustainability goals, we’re not just moving freight—we’re moving the freight industry forward.
